Let me start by saying THANK YOU to all of you who have left comments and emails letting us know of your own experiences. It helps to know others have been thru this and are doing well and managing. I wasn’t so sure I wanted to get out of the shower this morning and face another day like yesterday. I stayed up for a good long time last night being reminded that this was a plan God had for us and that He would not put more on us than we could handle. I was hopin He hadn’t underestimated my strength…smile. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! Thanks to all of you who have sent up prayers on our behalf.
All in all it was a good day. Small fit this morning and many hours of fun. After breakfast we had Emi and Nate do some reading and Math while we did a little bit of English with Jessica and Joaquin. Jessica ended up being pretty interested but we really just were having fun with it today. Hopefully we can get somewhere with the English, but I am really more concerned trying to prepare them for getting on a plane and going to the United States. We hope to work on things a little everyday until we come home. We didn’t hear word to day as to which court our paperwork is in. Hopefully someone will tell us, if not we may make a call by the end of the week to ask. It’s pretty known that some courts are slower than others. You can never be promised an actual date to hear of Sentencia, the day we sign the final decree and make plans to come home, but sometimes you can be given an approximation.
We spent the day around Zuetana. We did end up going to Maku, a store with authentic Colombian items, but Joaquin has sticky fingers and there are lots of breakables. So we got out of there pretty quick. I’m having a terrible time finding things to bring home for family. And the kids want to bring something back for teachers and friends, but it’s really tough, especially with two kids who aren’t used to shopping. They are great sports, but it’s a little tricky to concentrate to get anything done.
Zuetana had planned an outing in the kitchen on how to make empanadas, a Colombian food. Emilee and Jessica enjoyed the session and we have a recipe to bring back home. Empenadas are a stuffed flour of sorts, they were good. As we were finishing up Jessica taught Daddy how to make them. It was kind of nice to just let them play around the house today, a little breather. Jessica had a great day until time to take a shower and go to bed, so much better than yesterday.

Everyone’s encouragement is much appreciated. It will be great to look back in time and remember how far they have come and to give God the glory for a work in their hearts. Poor Joaquin had a bit of a rough day. He cried at the littlest things and had a lot of nervous energy today. He even cried at bed time, which he has never done. It was a very sad, pitiful cry. He did let me hold him until he was ready to crawl into bed on his own, then fell quick to sleep. I think he was over tired plus it’s all just caught up to him. I imagine he will be better tomorrow, but he was a tyrant today at times. It seems the only way he knows how to display his emotions is to be wild/silly.
No big plans for tomorrow. Just hang out again then maybe hit the park. We’ll see.
Take a close look at the kids shirts. Shirts compliments of Mami's friend Joanna. Thanks Joanna! Joaquin didn't want his pic taken so he was being a bit of a squirt.
Yesterday at Mimo's, just having some fun

Baby steps. . . glad to see today showed signs of improvements. Maybe one of these days Joaquin and Jessica will have a great day together. : ) That will be a wonderful feeling, and you are right. Eventually, you will be able to look back on all of this and see how much has changed. Continue your dialogue with God. He knows what you can handle, whether it feels right or not. I can certainly understand the bit of dread for the next day when things have not gone smoothly. Here's hope for a day of strength tomorrow!

Beth.. Here goes... I don't know why but this is what I have felt in my heart for the past 3 days.. FULL ARMOR OF GOD! Before you start your Day Dress yourself!
dress your family.
Eric you being the head plead the Blood of Jesus over their spirits.
Peace of God to flow into their minds souls.
I have been praying for your strength and for God to empower you for the day. I know you are praying and believing God. Know that we in the states are praying with you and for you.
Holy Spirit of God...
I pray that you encamp around the Hollis family right now I pray God in the name of Jesus that you send your holy spirit to encamp around each of them. God to calm the spirits of Jessica and Joaquin. In the name of Jesus and no other name I pray of "PEACE" in their little minds souls and spirits. The confusion that they are feeling, God you place a feeling of reassurance that All is well.
Lord you can reach 1000s miles away where no-one can be with the whole Hollis family right now But God you can show up right on time. I pray God that you show up and comfort each and every one of them and give them the strength that they need. The peace that the need. The comfort in their hearts Lord. PEACE, PEACE, PEACE!!!
Its not by might nor by power but it's by my spirit says the lord.
Give Beth and Eric the strength Lord to be able to continue on this journey that "YOU" have placed them on. Lord I pray for Joy, Joy unspeakable, to flow threw their rooms tonight and encamp around and in them. Give Emi and Nate the strength to hold on let them see and feel your mighty hand at work. Peace, Joy, strength, encouragement in the name of Jesus.
Hold on, even if you feel its the knot on the end. Hold on! You are all in the will of God. Even when the storm is raging.
HE Loves you! And he's with you
Love you all

I am glad that Jessica had a better day today! Sorry that Joaquin had a rough day today. But he has not had too many of them and hopefully will continue to not have too many.
Emi - I am glad that you could spend time with your sister today and learn how to make some food from there. It would be cool if you could make it for your classmates when you get home. :0)
Nate - you continue to be a good big brother too. You have a lil brother and sister that will look up to you now! :0)
Beth and Eric - Continue to hold your heads high. Better days are sure to come. You have so many people thinking of you and praying for you and your family. You are truely blessed to have such a great family!
Also, to the prayer in the comment before mine....AMEN!!!
Prayers and Love!!!
Hola, another day under your belts, another day closer to coming home. Hey Nate, the Reds finally won, can you believe it. Emi, congrats on the best tasting "E". what a fun time in the kitchen. Jessica and Joaquin, pray you both experience the love and peace of Jesus today and everyday, he is there for you. Eric and Beth soon you'll be home and all will be better. God has chosen your family because he has great confidence in all of you to follow his will in this journey. He will continue to guide you and strengthen you and fill you with much joy. Your lives are a miracle in progress and a testimony of God's greatness to many. Thank you for being obedient to his call. We love the pics so much. Great one of the four in there brother/sister tees. Bunches of Love,Hugs and Kisses, Papa & Mimi
Mmmmm....empanadas! Yummy! When you go to Maku (if you go again) be sure to pick up Taste of Colombia, the English version. It is impossible to get here. Its a great cookbook with lots of nice pictures.
Hey Hollis's! Ya'll are doing great. I think the first few weeks are rough even with newborns. But people quickly forget and are ready to do it all over again. Talking to any new Mommy that has just added one much less two to her family and we are sure to get tears, joy, love, complete exhaustion, confusion, worry, etc... regardless of the age. I am sure bringing two new but older babies are hard because their demands/needs are louder than a newborn but also we kinda expect different things from them verses a newborn. We love following your story. Your kids look so happy in your pictures. I know looks aren’t the most important thing in the world but your family is comprised of amazing kids. Emily is stunning with her red hair and fair skin and Jessica is equally beautiful with her piercing brown eyes and tanned skin. As for your two boys again, Nate is starting to get that teenage look where you can start to see the man inside. It will be fun to see how he changes more and more into a man of God and Joquin definitely is well described as your little Latino. Your family pictures are beautiful! You sell yourself short… you aren’t so shabby yourself! We would love to see more pics with you too!!!!
Even with all the fits and down times you mention, your blog makes me even more anxious to bring my little one home forever!!!!
Sorry for the book But we are praying for you!

I'm very jealous you're making empanadas, funny, I had a dream about them last night, I'll have to get the recipe!
I've been praying for you. I can't even think of what to say, but I know God gives wisdom to those who ask, and I have been asking a lot in the past five plus months. So is that advice?! He also give patience, and understands when we are less than perfect. In my better moments it makes sense to me that it is such a hard adjustment. I thought, how I could I have been naive to think we'd take this baby from all he knew and it'd be OK? But when the screaming begins I am not always so rational.
Praise God we have Him for our strength, and He can give us all we need. Imagine doing it without Him? I can't. Someday we'll be smiling over it all in heaven when us Yahoo girls get together. But for now we're praying and trusting our God for good things! And I am so glad yesterday was a better day, something to be thankful for.
Love,
Sherri
Hey Emi and Jessica - when you schedule me for the manicure, could you also bake something yummy? Are you two for hire?
I'll bet Nate and Joaquin would love to have you in the kitchen cooking up something delicious!
Nathan - were the empanadas scrumpdiliumptious?
Hang in there Beth and Eric! We are praying for you!
Love,
Margie
I've been bad, sitting here at work reading your blogs from the past week... very interesting and it sounds like you all are doing great. I am glad the kids are all getting along and that you are becoming closer... I can't imagine what all of you are going through, but it is a wonderful thing for sure. You all have come so far already and getting closer by spending these days together. I'm glad you are able to journal/share them... this time is precious and soon you will be back home to start what will be your "normal" day and you'll have this to look at. Our prayers are with your family... look forward to your return.

Nate and Emi - I almost forgot -
Can you teach Jessica and Joaquin to play kickball and softball? While you have been out of town, a wonderful baseball field was put in at Hooven School. The kids have been playing softball and kickball during recess.
That Mr. Kelly - whenever I look for him, he is outside playing softball with the kids!
Have a wonderful day!
Margie
Rejoicing with you at the wonderful times and praying with you through the not so wonderful. You both are doing a great job. Hold fast!
